Why is my new PC getting this poor and low FPS performance in 3DMark 11?

Hello, as the title says, my PC is getting a really bad performance in 3DMark 11 tests, I mean really bad, I'm talking about 4-10 FPS drop in tests, something is wrong.

I'll really appreciate if you can help me to find the cause of the problem. I'm using a 1440x900 monitor, tests are running in "Extreme" performance, which is 1080p, don't know if this can affect something. I have to say that when I'm playing games like Far Cry 3 in Ultra (1440x900) I don't have problems, FPS are always 30-60 depending of the AA (4x or 8x). Also, I'm pretty sure the temps of CPU and GPU are fine, and as you can see in the captures, GPU usage is okay (99%, afterburner) while 3dMark 11 test is running, same thing for the CPU usage with Prime95 test, 100% and no crashes.

My PC specs:

ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0
AMD FX-8350
Corsair Vengeance 8GB (1x8GB) 1600 MHz
Corsair Cooler H100i
WD Blue 1 TB WD10EZEX
And old 500GB Samsung HDD as slave
Sapphire Radeon R9 270 2GB Dual-X
Corsair PSU AX 760W
Windows 8.1 64

I have latest BIOS (default settings), latest GPU drivers and RAM properly configured in BIOS (1600).

I would expect that on a system running a single memory module. You should run a set of two matched memory modules to have dual channel memory (your processor wants it).

Your CPU is likely having performance issues as a result, and causing it to not be able to give more information to the video card as fast.

So, your guess is that if I buy another 8GB ram and I use 16GB in dual channel the problem will be solved?

Do you think using a 1080p monitor can improve the performance? or make it worse?

Well benches also stress your PC to the max.

Yes, but curiously even with that benchmark test the temp is not that high compared to the temp while I'm playing (+60C) having a good performance.

You are forgetting the fact your GPU is only 2gb. At 1440p 2gb is just cutting it for the thing to run.

2gb is a sweet spot for current gen games at 1080.

Interesting capture. But I think you're confused, I'm not using 1440p (2560x1440), in that case, my monitor is only 900p (1440x900), so, It is assumed that my card should exceed my resolution requirements. Even so, the 3DMark test says that it runs at 1080p, obviously my monitor is not 1080p as I said.

Give me some more ideas, I'm thinking installing Windows 7 64, or maybe I could buy another 8GB RAM memory to use dual channel and see what happens... But I don't think that solves the FPS drop down.

Again, thats all your system is capable of pushing that card is basically a 7950 when compared using 3dmark11..... Unless you have the same problems as my old rig where it bluescreens randomly no matter what I did (Reinstalls and wipes etc)
