Why is my pc low on memory and how to fix it?

a pop up box says my computer is low on memory and sometimes my desktop icons get scattered all over my monitor.Or sometimes my screen resolution changes to 800x600 from 1366x768.

You need to add more ram to your computer because it is using the pagefile which causes extreme drops in performance. What kind of computer do you have?

Really?Is there any other way because my budget is low.

windows 7 ultimate sp1 64 bit

ram 3gb 2.75 usable

74gb hard drive 10gb free

intel g41 express chipsets

screen resolution 1366x768

intel celeron dual core e3400 2.6

Could you tell me the model of your computer? Another possible issue is that your hard drive is too filled. Your supposed to have 10-15% of hard drive space left and you went way over that limit. Please see if you can delete large files that are not in use as it really affects performance.
