Question Why is my pc not running in dual channel mode?

I have the asus h170-pro motherboard. I looked up the manual to my motherboard online, and saw that for dual channel, I should put the ram into the A2 and B2 slots. I inserted the ram into the correct slots and my monitor would not turn on, however my pc fans and lights would start up. Upon further testing, I found that my ram would not work in the A1 or A2 slots, no matter how I organized them. So I was wondering if my motherboard is just bad, or is there something that I am missing or doing wrong?

what the ram? are they from 1 kit?
full system spec?
