Why is my PS3 laggy

So i have had my ps3 for some years now, and when i play the big games it's just so laggy. My friends don't have this problem. What could be the issue?

is its psu getting enough air flow?, it might be throttling because of the lack of air and overheating. or your eyes might be sensitive to the 30 fps of a ps3, like me

You might want to considering taking the cover off and cleaning the dust out of the heatsinks. It is fairly difficult to do, I wouldn't recommend it if you're not secure disassembling and reassembling consumer electronics. It might just be easier to buy a new one.
