Why is my Quad core CPU showing 1400 MHZ when it should be 4.2 GHZ

Hi Everyone,

I have a question regarding CPU-Z report.

Please see below and help me understand why it is 1.4 ghz not 4.2 ghz?

That is a power saving feature. When you don't use the CPU it clocks down, consuming less power, producing less heat and also increasing the life span of itself and the motherboard power delivery. All modern CPUs have it.

You should disable cool 'n' quiet in the BIOS, that's what usually downclocks the CPU.

Run a stress test like Prime95 and it will jump to 4.2GHz
