why is my screen brightness so low? HP laptop, Windows 7.

Even when plugged in, the brightness is at the minimum.

The brightness slider bar won't move more than one position and even then it tries to snap back to low.

Current driver, power setting at full brightness, etc.....

Original operating system was XP

go into the BIOS to see if there are lighting settings in their for the backlight... if not use the windows Power Options to set the brightness for AC and Battery and use the Fn keys to change it manually
