Why is my SSD so slow?

I'm using a Sabertooth Z97 and an 840 Evo. My sequential reads are around 350 and so are my writes. After reading a bit on the possible issues, I thought I might be using the wrong SATA ports.

In the picture with the overhead view of it and the description of the port placement, I plugged my SATA cable to the port next to the USB 2.0 ports (or if you don't see them, the area where the PCI Express 3.0 text is). There's also the Intel SATA connector, but it doesn't look like I can connect a normal cable to it (at least looking at the picture).

Yes, but I heard from somewhere that I need to use Intel's own SATA port, and the one mine is plugged into is Asmedia or something like that.

I looked around a bit and everyone was saying that Intel's ports are going to be a lot faster than Asmedia's. I actually have a different problem now. My drives were connected to Asmedia SATA ports, so I switched them to the Intel ones, but my pc didn't boot. I checked that they were running in AHCI in my BIOS, but Windows kept restarting. What could be the cause of this?

Did you change the boot order in the BIOS to put the SSD #1 in the boot order?

In the BIOS, I normally have the Boot Manager at the very top, and the SSD right after. I tried making the SSD take boot priority, but then it was even worse. What happened was, instead of waiting for the "Windows is loading" screen to fail on me, I get this weird red glitch thing on my screen for a second and it immediately fails on me.

You could boot into Windows Installation and do a "Repair Installation".

You could boot into Windows Installation and do a "Repair Installation".

But what would that solve? I can still use my computer and I'm using it as I type now on the Asmedia ports.

Sorry - my confusion. I thought that your 128GB boot drive was still acting wonky.

It's fine. In any case, it's really odd because I can see the drives in the BIOS and I can even see Windows trying to boot, but it keeps failing. I checked some driver software, and none of them are giving me anything related to a SATA driver, either.
