Why is my tv extremely bright?

my tv screen is super bright and no matter what i change in display settings it wont fix. i Heard the part i need is a t-con board and i can order it cheap and replace it myself, but i dont know for sure. can someone please help.

Are you using a pc to view your tv or is this the tv only?

just the tv by itself. no matter what i connect to the tv though (ie. laptop, game system, cable box) its still extremely bright

Have you went into the menu and changed settings??? you can change brightness as well.

yes. i have done everything possible and nothing fixes it. im usually pretty well knowledgeable with any kind of electronics but this tv has me stumped. i read online i need a new t-con board. if thats the case i can get one for $15 and replace it myself. but i want to be completely sure first.

Then if you have tried everything 15 bucks wont set you back as much as a new tv will.

One way to tell if its the tv is if the menu screen is affected as well.

What kind of panel do you have - a LED or CCFL one? If it's CCFL then check the inverter board. The main board might be fine (changing the brightness settings changes the signal to the inverter board) but if the inverter board is faulty somewhere then the problem you described may be caused by it
