Why is my USB drive creating "duplicate files"?

My flash drive seems to create "duplicates" of all my files, although they are just little yellow folders when you view the drive and when I click on it, I can see that it is the file name + .exe - eg. filename.jpg.exe.
I can delete them all, which takes forever, but low and behold, the next time I use the drive (which is daily), it's back again...
Strangely enough, the files all read - DATE MODIFIED - 2007/08/08, the TYPE of file : Application and the SIZE is 1 691KB.
What is (doing) this? And how can I remove it once and for all?

Solution
Its not the USB drive but your operating system creating duplicate files. There must be some virus in your OS.
Try using a different PC. First format the drive before using it. Then see if the same happens again. If not then you probably need to remove the virus with an antivirus program.
