Why is screen resolution gray out

monitor lcd wide screen : acer x203h max 1600x900 landscape
asus cg5270 64-bit
Intel Corporation 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)
os debian lenny adm 64-bit

If your monitor can only display a maximum resolution of 1600x900, it will not be able to display the higher 1920x1440 resolution.
Get a new monitor.

i'm on the monitor now my display is 1920x1440
if 1920x 1200 i could live with that..
it small icons
win 7 use 1600x900 ok
i updated drivers
duel boot with debian lenny adm 64-bit

tryed a monitor that works on debian lenny 32-bit
same thing so the think somthing in hardware
i'll try a crt monitor

i've solved the problem (the monitor has three cables a: 15-pin D-Sub Cable b: DVI Cable c: AC Power Cord)
do my age 70 ( poor excuess i kown) and lack of smarts.
i did not use b: DVI Cable . but when i did use.

everything works now.

so thank you for your time.
