Hi everyone,
A few months ago I asked why I had a slow transfer (6 to 7 MB/s) when transferring a file from my Drobo 5N (Gigabit) network attached storage to a USB 3.0 drive through my computer USB 3.0 port. The suggestions were to check my network speed. It turned out I did not have Gigabit speed.
I purchased a Netgear Gigabit switch to hook into my Verizon Fios Modem/Router that is still 10/100--not Gigabit. I also purchased new CAT5e cables. I was going to upgrade the router, but as I did research several threads mentioned that I did not need to upgrade the modem as I am transferring files inside of the network.
Now I am copying a 25 GB file from the computer to the Drobo and it starts off at 74-75 MB/s and the speed slowly goes down until it crawls at 3 to 4 MB/s. Why is this? I was so excited at first to see the higher speeds, then slowly my excitement dropped.
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Ron
