Why is the 290x cheaper than the GTX 780

Why is the r9 290x cheaper than the GTX 780 even though it's better?

Also is the twin froze from MSI good enough to cool the r9 290x or do i need an aftermarket cooler

well, the price of the 290X varies a lot, and so does the 780. so, you may have looked at a very cheap 290X and a very expensive 780. and the stock cooler should be fine.

You may be looking at an R9 290 (non X), that's indeed cheaper than a GTX 780.

As for the cooling solution, as long as you don't get one with the AMD cooler, you're good, the twin frozr cooler from MSI will handle the card just fine.

eh, thats a little cheaper than normal, but its an msi card so it should be good quality.
