Why isn't my RAM speed recognised?

I have the asus gryphon z97 motherboard:

In the manual it has a list of supported ram, so I bought some corsair that was in the list:

cmy16gx3m2a1866c9

And when I plug it in it comes up as 1333? Anyone know why this is?

The bios was updated to be compatible with the i7 4790k, so i know its up to date.

you have to turn it up in the bios and set the timing correctly, or if your mobo and ram support xmp profile just enable it in the bios and it will do all the work for you.

your rams will be 1866mhz timing 9-10-9-27

Should simply be enable XMP, select profile 1 and go, get CPU-Z and confirm in it's memory tab, should show frequency at 933 or so (true freq) as it's DDR DOUBLE data rate, take true freq x 2 = effective data rate of 1866

you are all correct, XMP sorted it - i feel silly.
