Why might a floppy disk drive be detected as A: drive?

Wasn't really sure if this was an OS or BIOS issue. I'm looking through an old computer and noticed there is a Floppy drive detected in the A: drive. This thing is running Windows 10 on an Asus P6T Deluxe v2, there is definitely no floppy connected. A couple of external hard-drives but I took those out and it was still there. I disabled the legacy diskette option in the BIOS but it was still there. Checked over the motherboard manual. This thing isn't even showing up in Disk Management for me to remove it. Why is it there? How can I get rid of it?

Look under device manager to see if you are showing a controller for it. You may be able to disable it that way.

Take care to not disable any required controllers.

Thanks. There was a floppy disk controller and I disabled it, now the drive is gone.

I'm going to guess I'll never need that controller unless I'm dealing with floppys.
