I dropped my external hard disk from about 3 feet height since then it is not getting detected on PC but the blue light on the hard disk keeps flashing when I connect it to PC. What is the problem and what I should do to recover data ??

Unfortunately, the drop most probably damaged the external hard drive physically which is something you won't be able to fix by yourself! 🙁
I'd recommend you to try using a different computer and see if you'd be able to access the drive from there. Another thing you should do is checking Disk Management and Device Manager to see if it's recognized there, at least. You might also want to try using a different USB cable and see if that will help.
If, by any chance, you manage to get the HDD detected somewhere, you should test its health and check up on the SMART status by running the diagnostic tests from your hard drive manufacturer's diagnostic tool. If you are unable to find it on their website, you can...

Hope these help. Keep us posted!
