hi!!
my roommate is hogging all the net speed. I looked up the wireless statistics and its definitely him eating up the speed..... webpages take ages to load even idm fails......i think he uses private trackers to download....... i already checked router's QOS settings and everything seems to be in order....... help! i'm going crazy with slow wifi...

do you have similar connections, I mean, he might have an AC Wifi adaptor in his machine and you only have an N adapter in PC/laptop, That would explain the speed difference.

My PC has AC, it can get 65mbit whereas PC in next room only has an N adaptor and max it can get is 14mbit. same router, different hardware.

My adapter is Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N 6235 .... i think it is 802.11 b/g/n ...... I'm not sure about my roommate's adapter...

you can limit the bandwidth for each lan/Wifi pc connected splitting it 50% 50% fair !!!

for example , lets assume your internet connection is 100Mbps .. and he is connecting using 192.168.0.4 , you can limit that port to 50Mbps , this way he will never get more .

here is an example

thank you! .... its working perfectly for now :)
