Hello everyone,

I recently installed SSD on my PS4 and the boost is remarkable. Even 10-15 second shorter loading makes my gaming experience better.

I bought 2 SanDisk 240gb SSDs; one for desktop PC and one for PS4. On PC, the max capacity is 220gb but on PS4 it is 170gb. A 50gb is missing on PS4. What is the reason of such smaller capacity on PS4? Someone else asked the same question in another website but no one gave answer to it.

Does all PS4s reduce the max capacity when formatted on PS4?

Solution
Ps4 os takes around 35gb, the rest I assume is used for some sort of cacheing feature & is a percentage of total drive size.

Just the way the ps4 works as far as I can see.

If you formatted that drive on a pc you would indeed see around 220gb instead.
So is it always like that or if I format it I will get different capacity. Like I said the one installed on PC has 220gb max capacity but on PS4 it is only 170gb. Same disk model, same brand.
