Well, it just so happens this kid I know from school bought a new comp off ebay. I don't know him very well but he called me up and told me he needed help setting up his new comp. I say ok and I go over his house. First thing I do, being the inquisitive type that I am, is ask him what his setup is. 1.3ghz athlon, geforce 3, 80 gig hd, dvd, cdr, 256 megs of ddr, creative platinum edition. I say not bad, how much? 810 he tells me. I was pretty impressed, all that for 810 bucks including a monitor on the way. So I ask him what he needs and he says he turns it on and nothing happens. At first I thought he got it with no OS, so I go to turn it on and nothing happens. You hear all these fans running yet the monitor is registering nothing but the little blinking light on the switch meaning the power is on. So I check under the hood and low and behold, first off it wasn't ddr ram they told him he was getting. Second of all nothing was hooked up right. Third of all the cpu didnt even come with a heatsink/fan. So when turning it on for the first time I'm guessing he fried his cpu right off the bat. That and pretty much all the parts they put in excluding the cpu and sound card were generic to all hell. I ask him where he bought it, he tells me ebay. I ask him off who, he says some company. I ask him if they have a website/telephone #, he says he doesnt know they didnt say. Case in point: don't buy stuff off ebay.
I'm still wondering if theyre sending that nice monitor they promised him, then again, whats their version of nice? 13" most likely...
