Hey guys, having some issues with my FPS in games. Below example is specifically for OVERWATCH.

I have an Asus 144hz monitor, but am having problems holding a CONSISTENT FPS over 144. Sometimes, it is over, but dips under quite frequently. All my settings in game are on lowest possible w/ uncapped framerates (300). Triple buffering, vsync OFF. Render is @ 100% (I know lowering will make frames a bit better, but I should be able to keep this at 100% and get over 144 fps). dynamic reflections, shadow detail, AA, local reflections, AO ---> OFF.

Relevant specs:

AMD FX-8350
1060 GTX 6GB
16 GB RAM
2 x 120 SSD

Let me know what you guys think...I've messed around in Nvidia settings, but not much change.

I don't know that you'll be able to get those kind of framerates with your current setup. The GTX 1060 is best suited for 1080p 60hz and you'd probably need a GTX 1070 to be able to get 120+hz on 1080p, at least that's what I've read in several different reviews and forums. Also, unfortunately your CPU isn't real strong either, the FX line of AMD CPUs is pretty weak compared to what Intel or even AMD Ryzen has to offer. You might have to try to lower your video expectations a bit with your current setup.

I have read on forums that people are getting well over 144hz with an 8350 and a 970 gtx...and they usually have settings ranging med-high. Is that just BS? Will I never be able to get that with a 1060? or is it the CPU that's holding me back?

I think its youre cpu cause I have seen some benchmarks and with a GTX 1060 6G on highest settings possible you should get framerates around 120fps, lowest settings should get around 250fps

check these benchmarks,
