Why not take 140mm fans over 120mm?

Alright, so for my new Fractal R5 case I just wanna go with 140mm's?

I'm fine on power consumption.

It depends if you're going to need them really, every build is different. If you don't mind the extra noise and think you will need more cooling, then fill it up with 140s. The case already comes with 2 140s, if you're not OC'ing just one more 120 will be fine.

Aaaah, 140mm fans are NOT louder than 120mm fans, I think you need to check your facts. There are quiet 120mm fans and very quiet 140mm fans. Most of the time the larger fans move more air and can spin at a lower rpm so they don't create as much of a buffeting sound which is what most people hear as fan noise. If you look at some of the Noctua fans you will find very quiet fans in each size.

RAM: 2x4GB Kingston @ 666Mhz
HDD1: 500GB WD

SSD: 250GB Crucial BX100

Aaaah, 140mm fans are NOT louder than 120mm fans, I think you need to check your facts. There are quiet 120mm fans and very quiet 140mm fans. If you look at some of the Noctua fans you will find very quiet fans in each size.

Any recommendations other than Noctua? I don't plan on paying 40 euro per fan tbh.

I can attest to how quiet those fans are in my full tower case I have 6 X 120mm and 2 x 140 mm and when it is running you can't hear it. Under full load you can barely hear it.

I do not, sorry, I find stuff that is silent, good quality and stick with it.

I do not, sorry, I find stuff that is silent, good quality and stick with it.

If you want to make jet engine from R5 - sure, why not. Those are high-velocity fans, at 2300rpm they are unbearable.
Damn, Noctua NF-A14 PWM costs 22 euro on Amazon. Why even think about anything else?

I'm from the Netherlands. I don't have Amazon.

I don't understand your logic at all. SS fans are 15 a piece, not that much cheaper for a quality drop.
Anyway, I wouldn't buy anything except Noctua or aforementioned BQ SW2. Well, maybe Noiseblocker. FM121 won't be better than Fractal's own GP14 fans.

Cheap sleeve bearing. Once the lube evaporates out of the sleeve bearing it'll begin to rattle and seize up. If the fan's rotation axis is perpendicular to the ground then the sleeve bearing will wear out quicker.

That's a shame, I guess I'll buy one fan at a time to reduce costs and go with Noctua/Be quiet.

True, that's a shame. I haven't used scythe in a long time due to lack of availability in north america. The last ones I used were s-fdb not sleeve bearings and performed quite well (old s-flex). Hard to get 'cheap' and 'good' in the same product. Most of the lower priced fans are sleeve bearing (even corsair's) to get prices down. Better quality bearings cost more.
