Why should I change to mechanical keyboards?

So I've been reading a lot about mechanical keyboards lately and I still don't see the point in paying +$100 on a keyboard for gaming.
The major advantages that I have read about were mainly durability and the tactile confirmation.
I have used a rubber dome Dell stock keyboard for the past 7 years and no issues so far, so durability isn't a big deal apparently. And I don't think that I need the tactile confirmation while gaming, since I don't happen to press mistaken keys in-game frequently.
I never used a mechanical one, so my opinions may be wrong, but that's why I'm here.
Please, say your piece.

Yup, personal preference. You may want to try to get to a store sometime that has models to try, as even in 'mechanical' boards there is a wide range of switches.....that feel very different.

Yeah, as I said, I am yet to use one, so maybe I'm missing the nirvana of typing using my membrane keyboard.

Go to a store and try them out. No other way to know what you are (or are not) missing
