Hi, my name is Vishalnand I am using HP pavilion dv6000 notebook which has 4 gb ram, Nvidia GeForce 8400m GS graphic card of 2gb and showing total available graphics memory 2175 MB but why it shows dedicated video memory 128 mb. I can't play any graphics games smoothly. Can I increase this upto 1024 mb or at least 512mb. Please help.

Solution
I think the dedicated memory should be 256MB according to the product page. Im not sure why yours is reporting 128MB of dedicated memory.

You cannot increase the dedicated memory. The GPU has the memory modules soldered into the main PCB board. Laptop GPUs use whatever built-in memory they are provided, and then use the PCs RAM as a secondary set of memory, but it's much slower.

Your only option is to purchase a laptop with a better dedicated graphics card, or lower the graphics settings on games to the lowest possible settings and hope its playable.
