why so many games won't run on windows 8.1

so many of my game won't run on windows 8.1 including GTA4, sims3, need for speed rival and so on.

Do you meet the minimum requirements? Check the official websites for those game and the compatibility list.

Go to canyourunit.com it will check also if you meet the minimum requirements to run the game. If it says you fail the test, you need to upgrade

nothing. when i hit the shortcut it just won't start.

P.S. i just got a new machine with a fresh windows 8.1

Right click the game and try running it as admin

still nothing happen even try compatibility mode but still nothing happen

Double click on the game. Press ctrl+alt+del and check if the game shows up under the "processes list" somewhere

mostly rights management.
just be sure not to install your games to c:\program files
and use the compatibility mode...

Do you ACTUALLY own the game? A lot of people download pirated versions and complain it doesn't work. Just asking.

the game was download from steam and origin so it isn't pirate version.
