Question Why some mkv files sometimes doesn`t play well on 4k tv?

I play mkv files on a laptop which is connected to a Philips 4k tv through a HDMI cable. Some movies freeze every few seconds but only for a very small part of a second, so it is not seen as a frozen picture but more as a shakening or a small delay in the movements. Could it be some display optimization problem?

what software are you using to play the videos?

did you make sure to disable all that smooth motion stuff? that messes with the picture big time, and not in a good way.

what is the exact model of the tv?
