Neither Sony nor MS *make* money on their consoles. They both lose $150+ on the their machines, subsidizing the cost with software sales. Furthermore, Sony may lose more on their console but they are forced to charge a lot more for it to pay for Blu-ray, while dumping the majority of features that Sony had claimed would make the console superior to 360.
What makes them greedy is that they are asking people to pay at minimum $500 for a console. They dont do it to make money on the console. They're strategy is it make money off Blu-ray movies later on, by installing a defacto Blu-ray player into every home that has a PS3. Sony owns the rights to the Blu-ray spec, and if BR becomes the popular format than they can charge every other studio to lincence the right to use it.
In the meantime they are focused on packing extras into PS3 to "add value" (oh, well i guess not so many extras in the cheaper version
; got to pony up $600 to get
some of what they originally promised). Instead of making a great gaming experience, they have forced the fans to fund their Blu-ray ambitions, and limited their ability to not pay for high dollar add-ins. That is what makes them Greedy.
