Ok, I'm running Windows 2000 and i ran 3dmark2k and 2k1. I got worse than i did after i reloaded my computer than before. To see my PC look at my sig. I loaded the Detanator 12.41 drivers (as i did before), and the via 4-in-1 drivers. I defraged my hard drive and i lowered the swap file for my computer. I'll try it again with the minimum and maximum for the swap file the same. Anyways in 3dmark2k i only get 2441 with the video card at the stock clock with it oc'd to 140/170 (origionally 130/166) i get 2558. In 3dmark2k1 i got a best of 1481 with the load i'm on now. I haven't oc'd the card while running 2k1. I think i'm forgetting a driver, but which one?? What det. drivers are best for my tnt2 m64 pro 16mb??

Win2k puts a hit on performance especially under 256mb RAM because of all the other services that run. Your scores in 3dmark2k aren't bad for your card. Also 3dmark2001 was made for the GeForce3 and nothing else. I have a Voodoo5 5500 overclocked and get crappy scores in 2k1, but games play great!

If you'll notice with the TNT's you don't use direct3d but actually Athlon optimization. This means that the CPU/RAM will affect scores more than tweaks to the card. Some good CAS2 RAM should put you over 4000 so long as you can change the settings in the BIOS of that Compaq board. 3DMark2001 is not a good judge of performance for your setup stick with 2000 until you get a better graphics card.

The CPQ bios doesn't let u change much just the basic stuff. So CAS2 won't get me much. Would another 128 or 256mb of ram help any??

3dmark2001 was made to test FUTURE graphics processors, your voodoo5 runs great because it dosent have any features which 3dmark2k1 tests, when the radeon 2 is released it will score highly in 2k1 as well. 2k1 was not designed for gf3 or any particular videocard. You could say it was designed for dx8 however.
