Why the hate on the R9/R7 200 series?

I am the dedicated computer builder for my friends and family, and as such I go to various websites to read reviews and look up specs so as to get the best parts. However, I've seen almost nothing but complaining about the R9 280X, R9 270X, etc. Yes, they're all rebrands, but what does that matter? The Radeon HD 7770 performed similar to the 6850, and the 7850 performed similarly to the 6970, then there was the 7970 which was released as the new high end card just as the R9 290X will soon be.

So, what's the deal with all the hate? If there's going to be similarly performing cards, WHY NOT make them rebrands for cheaper tech and lower prices? The R9 280X is the same price or lower than all the 7970s on newegg, performs just as well, and performs just as well as the Geforce GTX 770 which is $100 more!

So... am I missing something here? Am I the only one that finds the award given to the R9 280X by tom's an obvious choice?

The 7770 draws less power than the 6850, so you can make do with a smaller power supply. Same for the 7850 vs. the 6970.

The R 200 series is mainly rebrands, and that's just not very interesting. It can be seen as dishonest marketing, trying to trick people into believing these are new GPUs. And the pricing is not impressive either - they cost about the same as the cards they're replacing, if not a little more, and you get no game bundle.

I'm going to post this if i was a channel reseller. places like newegg and cyber pc builders are angry at amd. first off there all the older cards that are inventory that newegg has. if i was amd and the new line was not there 8000 cards i would have dropped there map prices on the old cards 30 days ago to let the channel sell out of the older cards. right now you have two cards with the same 2 year old cores. if there prices the same but one has free game bundle and the newer card does not how do you sell both cards if there the same price and the same speed?? then the shoes have not dropped from nvidia or amd...if nvidia in nov drops there 800 line of gpus and there the same price as the old cards but have a 20 percent or more speed over there older cards what do you tell people that just payed for the r line of amd cards. then real butt kicker is sometime soon the real 8000 cards are going to drop. so what amd has done is taken a lot of people that want to upgrade to the newest cards for the newest games bf4) amd renamed cards are not new tech so your going to have hard core games waiting even longer for new tech to drop.
