i have a hp pro 3120 mt computer .i tried to change his Cpu from a dual core to core 2 duo but it won't work ... after i set the core 2 duo up and turn the pc on, i have this message "CPU unsupported computer will shut down " and it shut down ...
and if you asking.. yes they have the same socket (775 LGA) so what's the deal ? can you please help me :)

OK the board on this computer is using the G43 chipset which was disigned to handle the later versions of the Intel® Core™ 2 Duo (think of the die shrink to 45nm). The processor that you are trying to use has a 65nm manifactering process. If you were to change it out for one of these http://ark.intel.com/compare/35348,36463,36500,36503,41495,34442,35070,33909,33910,33911,35605 you should be able to get it up and running (Make sure you do a Bios update before you try.
