Why there is no DVI port on this monitor?

I have a working Samsung SyncMaster 2233SNPLUS and I want to continue to use it with the new system I'll build in summer. But the thing is, even though there are words "DVI IN" and "RGB IN" in the back of the monitor I couldn't locate a DVI port. I've been using RGB port for years. Back of the monitor looks like this:

This is how It should've looked I think:

My brother bought this monitor years ago. Did they sell a non-DVI, RGB only version to him? If that's the case, can anyone instruct me with details about how can I use DVI connection for my new rig because my new motherboard won't be supporting RGB (https://www.msi.com/product/motherboard/H170-GAMING-M3.html#hero-overview)

Thanks!

Missing piece there is DSUB cable (those adapters/converters are not long enough to reach from your computer to monitor):

More than likely just used the same parts for multiple models. Happens a lot. So they used the same base for a VGA model and a VGA/DVI model and only punch out the DVI for the higher end.

You can either use a DVI-VGA convertor. They are about $3. Or get a new monitor.

Do DVI-VGA convertors give you the exact same quality as If there were a DVI port and you connected a DVI cable to it directly?

Quality is not the same, there are 2 signal conversions in the middle, when you connect LCD monitor via DSUB(VGA) connection:
first digital to analog at the computer's side
and analog to digital at LCD monitor's side.

With digitial DVI, HDMI or DisplayPort connection there are no such extra conversions necessary.

You may notice that lcd pixels are bleeding color to neighboring pixels and picture is not sharp.
Thats why LCD monitors connected by DSUB(VGA) connection have auto-calibration feature.

That motherboard you listed H170 GAMING M3 doesn't have analog video outputs, only HDMI and DVI-D.
So $3 DVI-DSUB adapter can not be used there.

Those adapters look like this:

You will need active DVI-D to DSUB converter. It costs more (~$10) and looks like this:

Or you can choose different motherboard that has analog video output (DSUB),
or you can use discrete video card that has analog video output.

Shouldn't the VGA part be with pins and DVI side with holes? I'm confused there because my monitor's RGB input has holes, not pins.
