Question Why two capacity series for Crucial BX500?

The entry- level Crucial BX500 SSDs come in two different series capacity-wise. One series comes in capacities of 120, 240, 480, 960 GB while the other line offers 250, 500 and 1000 GB. Is there any difference between the two - the controller perhaps? Is one preferable over the other?

Compare the variants and hardware versions. They mostly use the same controller (SM2259XT) but differ in the NAND families.
