Why when you change the clock to the current time on a desktop motherbaord the m

Hello,
I have an issue with my desktop! It's an Asus P4P800SE w/3.2 CPU. Running XP

When the clock is set to the current date, my monitor will flash black every few seconds, and come back on. After bootup, it will also change my video settings.

I have change my video card, and my CPU. Still does it! What is going on? It's driving me nuts, and I can't recieve my updates. So, I have to approve & except everything. It sucks!
