I have nevosoft games that worked when i installed them last year. did not play for a while and now will only give loading errors, tried changing compatibility to xp, vista etc to no avail. win 7 troubleshooting was to switch comapitlilty and then 2nd was user verify solution - veryify_no??? Publisher details and other notes were package version 1 and 1.5 not sure what that is. The error that pops up is as follows: Loading error: can't load ????n delete.par Incompatible application
I also found this: program+compatible+app+app+app+app+game+game+legacy+crash+crash+hangs+hangs

I have windows 7 -64bit o/s

here is the first thing in the event view from today, i think, i have some saved logs somewhere for the other game too.
event id 9010:
A request to disable the Desktop Window Manager was made by process (10talismans.exe)

then event 9013:

The Desktop Window Manager was unable to start because composition was disabled by a running application
then event id 0 or gupdate?

The description for Event ID 0 from source gupdate cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

then a bonjour event 100 sigh! mDNSCoreMachineSleep: mDNS_Lock locking failure! mDNS_busy (1) != mDNS_reentrancy (0)

hope this helps and thanks for your help!

This isn't necessarily an error. Some programs will disable aero (desktop manager/theme) to free up more video resources for the program/game.

The bonjour error is most likely to do with your iTunes, not the games.

Is there anything else that looks relevent to the game problem?

Might try rolling back any updates to say, or unintalling them.

Updates tend to "block" programs from running that used to run.

If not formatting is about the only decent option, cause Restore now only changes parts of the system settings. The ones that would apply to your issue would probably still be installed, but you might try.

I've come to find out that Windows 7 OS is an OS that can finally store and save stuff on your computer at times.

But Note, that wihtin some updates and etc, Formatting will retain the info in issue, and you must do a Hard Drive format from it, and will have to consult your hard drive manual if you have one. Alot of companies these days dont send manuals.

Otherwise i would say, maybe malware or the like, Prgroams of interest of probably more prone to the issue of any then ones not. Why that it is, i dont know.

Well I have a fair bit here to keep me busy. I am still writing exams and do not have as much time as I would like to spend on this.

Note: the only other thing it may be could be something to do with the actual desktop itself? Vista/7 have the aero feature and possible other desktop service. I did once or twice get an error that an app was attempting to disable a desktop service??? Where can I temporarily disable a desktop service and make sure I do not disable something vital?
