Hey guys, I'm at a wit's end. I built this PC about a week ago and it was giving me overheating problems (fixed it) but my Fx 8320 still doesn't work. The computer will start up and last about a minute but then it shuts down. I'm running with my old FX 4100 with no problems (even after hours of gaming). The thing is, I put the FX 8320 on another PC and it worked perfectly fine. Though, I can't check how it works under load cause it's not a gaming pc. Any suggestions?

I am starting to feel i am answering the same question all the time... Did you update your bios first ? You need to do that so that your mobo supports 8320. It will be easy since you already have a working cpu.

PS You should replace that PSU....

Thank you, sorry if it had been asked before, I wasn't sure how to word it on google search. The bios was one of the first things I checked if I recall correctly, it was up to date. But I'll check again! Why should I replace the psu?

No im sorry, i thought you had this common cpu bios problem but if bios is up to date(1006 or above) we are facing a different situation. The next think i would check is the PSU. Yours is definitely not reliable, with a little google search you will see that everyone mentions severe problems. Maybe with the 8320 (which draws more power) onboard your PSU fails.

Yup. Updated bios to 2501, still crashed 🙁 I'm so sad. Perhaps you're right about the Psu. How much wattage should I be looking for in a new one? Thank you for your help.

Edit: Would this one work? It's on sale right now. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7564404&CatId=2533
