Hi guys
I recently bought the BenQ XL2411z which is advertised as 144hz, I have connected it to my laptop (Lenovo Y700) with a 2.0 HDMI cable (may only go up to 120hz) but I can only get to 70hz before the screen goes black.

Any clue why I can't get my monitor to go to 120Hz (or more)?

Solution

you need to find a very good quality adapter that supports 120/144Hz passthrough.
your monitor only support 144Hz via DVI Dual Link as stated in the user manual:

"If 144 Hz is not available in your menus, check the following:
• make sure the DVI-D Dual Link cable is properly connected to your computer and the monitor
• make sure your GPU supports 144 Hz
• make sure your game supports 144 Hz"

Do you know if a HDMI to DVI cable will allow me to get 120/144hz? or is it only a DVI to DVI?
