I'm using a Toshiba Satellite Laptop and am trying to boot a small hard drive with windows 7 pro as the os. Entering the bios shows that the computer recognizes the hard drive as a hard drive providing the applicable details about it. Trying to boot it only brings a message that says, "No bootable device -- Please restart system". My boot priorities show that HDD/SSD will boot first. I'm just getting into coding and would really like to use this hard drive. Any help?

This often happens when the OS is not setup as the primary partition. You should try reinstalling Windows 7 by deleting all partitions and formatting the drive, then choose the unpartitioned space (should be the only option) to put Windows onto.
Alternatively, use GParted Live to edit the partitions on your drive, once again deleting all of them, however this time leaving the Windows 7 partition.
