Recently I upgraded to lga 1150 with and i7 4790. However I've tried numerous fixes but the pc won't post. In contrast when I try the older cpu(i3 4130) the pc boots normally. I also replaced the 4790 for a new one with the problem persisting.

CPU:i7 4790
GPU:Rx 480 8gb
MOBO:H81m-e Asus
Windows 10 64 bit
8gb ddr3 1600mhz
2 wd blue Hdd: 360gb, 1tb
PSU:Thermaltake litepower 650w, 80+ bronze

More information needed:

Operating System
RAM
Disk drive(s)
PSU

When boot fails: any beeps, diagnostic LED's

Does the following link provide the User Manual applicable to your Motherboard?

https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA1150/H81M-A/E8599_H81M-Series.pdf

[Verify that I found the correct User Manual.]

Refer the to User manual to:

  1. verify that all installed components are supported.
  2. confirm that all installed components are correctly installed and connected.
  3. confirm that BIOS is correctly configured.

Post was edited, thank you for the notice. no beeps, led's work, fans spin. all components in theory should be supported, everything is correctly installed. i will double check that the bios is properly configured.
