Question why wont my pc use the full 32g of ram?

My pc wont use the full 32 gigs I have in it. It says 32.0 GB (15.9 GB usable) in my settings. I've gone thru bio and msconfig but nothing changes and now I"m stuck

We will need to know the specs to your build. Please list them like so:

CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
include the age of the PSU apart from it's make and model. BIOS version for your motherboard at this moment of time.

Update BIOS to latest non-beta version.

The most common reason (and probably your issue) is that you mixed multiple sets of RAM and they are conflicting.

In short, try unchecking the Max Mem on startup, yours is at 32GB.

I have a prebuilt from microcenter but some of my stuff is upgraded

CPU: Ryzen 7 2700X
CPU cooler: Master Cooler Hyper 212
Motherboard: not sure exactly but i believe its ASRock
Ram: goldkey 8g 2666 x2 (came with) & hynix 8g 2666 x2
SSD/HDD: WD blue 250g ssd & 2tb hd
GPU: Radeon RX 580 series
PSU: idk what it is but its what came with it
Chassis: Powerspec
OS: Windows 11
Monitor: samsung g2

Deselect the checkbox for "Maximum memory"
Reboot.

well even when i put it back to just 2 sticks that were the same, it still only used half of the ram

If you want 32 GB, the safest way is to buy a 32GB set. Might you be able to get all the RAM to play nice? Yes. But it is up to you to try and fail and tweak and rety.
