SeaTools 5.0.140 installs under Windows 10, but doesn't run. When I try to run the SeaTools.exe, "Please wait while setup is complete" [sic] flashes up briefly.

I've tried rebooting. Any other ideas?

Did you uninstall the previous version, before installing the current one?
No, I thought it would update the old version. After uninstalling both, I installed version 5 before my 1st post.

Have you tried installing in Safe Mode and/or installing as administrator?
Thanks for the suggestions. These didn't work though.

Could it be registry entries? With no version installed I find e.g.:

Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Applets\Regedit\LastKey=Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Seagate\SeaTools

Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UFH\SHC\0=C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\SeaTools\SeaTools.lnk
C:\Program Files (x86)\Seagate\SeaTools5\SeaTools.exe

Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UFH\SHC\2=C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\SeaTools\SeaTools.lnk

Would you like to elaborate on "a good backup"?

The few times I've tried to return to a Restore Point, Windows just refused. I suppose a drive image would be another option, though I've never tried it.

Make sure any Antivirus programs are disabled during installation, and as suggested above, make sure you are running the installer as an administrator. It is not enough that your account is an administrator, you must explicitly invoke those permissions. Either right-clicking an installer and running as administrator, or running the installer from a command prompt that is running under administrator privileges. (It will say "Command Prompt: Administrator")

Looks like you also have an application compatibility mode flagged. Make sure to run the installed application with administrator privilege as well as that is likely necessary for operation.

I have the same problem... I have tried everything I can think of. seatools and seachest command line tool both just crash out. I am on a i9-12900k and 2x 530 firecuda nvmes windows 11. I was going to try it in windows 10, I have a partition for testing but it no longer boots idk why. Seatools worked about 3 months ago when I build this machine but has not worked for a while now. I am wondering if a bios update on my ASUS z690 Hero broke some things. I have not noticed any other issues luckily.

Hmm, have you tried disabling the E cores? I would not be surprised if that breaks things under Windows 11, particularly a recent update.

Any recent updates on this issue? I have a similar problem with my laptop. Installer shows it has started and a splash screen eventually completes, but program never launches/opens. Multiple install/uninstallations with Seatools 5 and legacy version(s) from Seagate site. It tries to open, then closes almost immediately. Using a FireCuda 530 1TB on a nearly fresh OS install of 11 on a brand new laptop. Only AV software is MS version within Windows 11.
