Why wont team fortress work on my computer?

Everytime i open team fortress the game runs perfectly until it shows the picture of the bald guy with the name valve.Then it just shuts off.I already tried reinstalling it but it doesnt work.What should i do?

Sounds like you have a corrupt file somewhere.

Try verifying the game cache

Right click on game -> select properties
Local Files tab -> Verify Integrity of Game Cache...
