Why Won't the Mic on These Headphones Work

I bought this headset a while back and noticed that when I plug it into my computer the headphones are recognized but the mic is not. I hear all the sound through the headphones but my voice is recorded through my computer's mic. Is there any way I can get them both to work because it is a real pain to use video chatting on the laptop if I have to rely on the computer's built-in mic.
The laptop has a single headphone jack that shows the symbol that it includes both audio and voice. I have provided links to my laptop and the headphones bought.
My original audio driver is Realtek but that was a real pain, to say the least, so I switched to the Windows/Microsft audio driver. I also use Windows 10.

I appreciate any help or conclusions you can give me. Thanks in advance!

Those headphones are designed for a smartphone as they incorporate an inline control switch attached to the cable. It's wrong to call it a headset. A true PC headset has it's microphone on a separate stalk which sits in front of your mouth but can be moved out of the way when not required.

On a PC or laptop, headphones/earphones like yours, designed for a mobile phone, will only half work (ie the mic won't work).

What you need is a PC "headset" with a single "combo" jack-plug.
