Question Why would Samsung 990 Pro have slower Random Read/Write than Samsung Evo+?

Purchased 2 new 2 GB hard drives. Both installed in same notebook (Lenovo P16G2 w 13700HX). Swapping between M.0 and M.1 yields the same result, so it is not the slot.

990 Pro

I am not sure how quickly the Pro temp throttling kicks in. The Pro Idles at 45C and hits a max of 55C while the Evo idles at 43C and hits a max of 46C.

CrystalMark is set to NVMe SSD. All other settings are left at default.

Sumsung Magician reports both drives have the latest firmware.

Any suggestions? As random are more important than sequential to overall performance for apps run (graphics editing and some gaming), the numbers suggest that I would be better off returning the Pro and going with two Evo. Am I misreading the benchmark results?

All notebook drivers and firmware are completely up to date... I am not sure how laptop firmware would explain slower write speeds for the 990 PRO than the 990 Evo+. I can see if both drives performed equally poorly.
 
I always wonder about the + and - accuracy of such measurements....

However, you are using a laptop......

My suggestion is to list and prioritize your drive requirements.

Overall, the end "speed" measurements likely being somewhat moot with respect to the bigger picture.
