I recently bought TP Link WN725N wireless adapter and although it's a 150Mpbs one, in my computer it shows that it operates on only 39Mpbs and therefore my internet connection is slow. What can cause these problems and what could fix it?

1 - You will never get a 100% performance on a WiFi connection.

2- Check your Access Point/Router info, older devices in your network might force your Access Point/Router to use slower modes.

3- Make sure your Access Point/Router is capable of 802.11N at 150Mbps or better and it is properly configured.

4- Test with your router close to your computer.

The wireless adapter being 150mbps does not mean that's the speed you get. It just means that the particular wifi adapter can handle internet speeds up to 150mbps. Also, as said above, you will never get full internet connection using a wireless connection.

How is signal strength? You have to have pretty decent signal to get max speed on WIFI. Other WIFI networks can interfere an cause slow downs as well. inSSIDer can help you see signal strength in real time and also tell you if other networks are on the same WIFI channels as yours. http://www.techspot.com/downloads/5936-inssider.html What are you usings as a WIFI router/access point? The building layout and materials can also effect signal strength greatly.. I hope this helps you some.. I have WIFI at up to 450Mbps and only get that speed very close to the WIFI AP, most of the time I get 150-300Mbps depending on my distance and location.

You would have to access the routers configuration utility. How you access it depends on the router, for many you open your web browser and type 192.168.0.1 (or whatever IP address is your routers, to find open a windows command line (CMD) then type "ipconfig" and it is the ip listed as default gateway in the info on your wifi adapter) then enter the username and password (they are usually the default from the factory and documented in your routers manual. What do you have for a router?
