Wi-Fi adapters aren't showing up in Device manager

Recently my Pci-e Wifi adapter seemed to have died as it would randomly disconnect from the internet until I turned wi-fi off and back on and then it stopped working completely, not being detected.

So I bought a replacement, this time a Tp-link one and that wasn't detected either (Not in device manager) so I thought maybe that one is defective too. Returned it and got an Asus AC55BT instead, I've put it in 3 different Pci-e slots and this one isn't working either, not being detected at all, but the bluetooth is.

Anyone know how would could fix this or what the issue is? My motherboard is an Asrock Z97 anniversary.

It almost sounds like an electrical short or a grounding issue but considering it's wireless and presumably not touching anything else other than the pcie slot, I don't see how that's the only thing affected.
Any chance you can go for a usb based adapter?

I currently have a slower usb one in the meanwhile, that works but for some reason no pcie card seems to work.
