It's about time. They rested on their WPA2 laurels for too long.

I'd be curious to see what kind of performance impact you'd be looking at for a full WPA3 implementation.

The wpa3 will use new and more powerfull hardware, so it compensate any possible performance impact.
It is just more complex crypting method with some other security upgrades, thing that more powerfull hardware can not handle!
