Hello! I just acquired an old pc (7-8 yo). My problem is that the battery gets empty pretty fast when the wi-fi is activated. Would replacing the wi-fi card to a newer one help in any way?
Thanks
I don't think so. I think you need to replace the battery. Laptop batteries are good roughly 3-5 years or so. 7-8 years is pretty far past that.
Thank you for your answer. I already ordered a new one, but I am still wondering whether or not to replace the wifi card. Basically with the battery I have now (with 45% capacity left, according to linux mint's "power statistics" utility software) I can manage to get one more hour on battery just by disabling the wifi (1h with wifi, +- 2h without, same usage). I know it's normal to have a difference, but in this case it seems a lot.
