I have an Inspiron Desktop (3847, Early 2013, Windows 8.1) and after a windows update, my wi-fi no longer works. It says that the Network Controller (now listed under Other Devices) no longer has the drivers installed. Even though I try to download the proper drivers from Dell and Atheros it doesn't fix the problem. Please help!

Solution
You should have disabled the Automatic update. I also forgot about it.
Try manually installing the driver (right click in Device manager and update driver).
Another option would be Windows repair, if the Windows DVD is available).

I tried that at first and it worked, but when I turned my computer off, it simply updated itself automatically and now it won't let me return to the point where the update installed itself.

UPDATE: It works now, thank you so much!!!
