Hi guys.

My internet connection first of all is nothing special. However, I have noticed phone wifi speed is faster than Ethernet. On pc i download with 2.5mb/s but on phone around 4-5mb/s.

Can someone explain this? I also tried using a wifi adapter on pc to test it, and same, 2.5mb/s.

How can wifi speed be faster than ethernet? Only positive about ethernet I noticed is that the connection is very stable, unlike wifi.

Please clarify, are you comparing *your* cable Internet service to 4G or your internal network wired v. wireless speed?

Generally if properly configured your home LAN will be much faster and as you noted more stable using a wired connection compared to wireless. However, if you have a slow ISP plan it may be faster to use 4G phone access to download data.

Well, I think it has to do with phone's 4G? Because as I said, I also used a wifi adapter on PC and download speed was the same as the wired one (ethernet cable), 2.5mb/s.

However, wireless mobile phone connection seems faster since download speed is 4-5mb/s.

Mayne it's the ISP as you said? Pff..

Yes, often 4G is much faster than something like a basic cable or 3Mbps DSL connection. I used to use a 3Mbps DSL as a backup to my fast cable Internet, but now I just use a tether from my phone 4G for infrequent loss of cable Internet.

Over the next few years as 5G rolls out, those who are lucky to get access will see excellent speeds, at a price of course.

Contact your ISP and see if faster DSL/cable speed is available for a reasonable price.
