Wi-Fi seems incredibly poor on my PC alone versus other devices

Hey all!

For starters, I am terrible when it comes to routers, IP addresses, etc. It all really confuses me. That being said, hopefully someone on here can help! I currently use a Linksys AE3000 as my wireless adapter, and I have Comcast XFINITY (Router/Modem model TG862G).

My devices such as my MacBook Pro and iPhone seem to have really nice connection from my location in my apartment, but my PC with the Linksys Adapter reeeeeally suffers from slow internet browsing. Is there any adjustments I could make within the Router settings and/or my adapter settings that might speed things up? Again, my knowledge base when it comes to all of these DNS and IP servers isn't that great.

Thanks in advance! :)

Your internet sucks because the adapter sucks. USB adapters are almost never going to perform as well as the dedicated hardware in laptops and phones.

Would also be usefull to know how far away the PC is from the router?

If the PC can not be hardwired to the router the next best option is a power line network adapter:

This will be better then wifi

If you just refuse to use the powerline adapter then get a PCI-E wifi card over that usb stick one
