[SOLVED] WIA 1061: can't stop, resume or restart (stuck on pause)

WIA, Windows Image Acquitision, is currently stuck on "Pause" and I have been unable to Stop, Resume, or Restart WIA.

I receive the error message:
Windows could not resume the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service on Local Computer.
Error 1061: The service cannot accept control messages at this time.

I've tried pretty much everything I've found on the internet and nothing has worked thus far.

Since you didn't mention what troubleshooting steps you have already tried, I was wondering if you could check for any update available for your graphics card driver and/or BIOS?

Checking for any available Windows update would be helpful too.

You can read more about WIA on this page and try uninstalling the participating devices from the Device Manager to see if the culprit element is removed.
