wich of these 2 LCD monitors would you buy?? for gaming

Mainly for gaming but the price is the same , big difference really is size vrs the ms!

Both displays have good response time. For LCDs, you don't need to set your monitor faster than 60 Hz refresh. So, that gives you 16ms between updates. Anything less than 1/3 of that should be indistinguishable to the eye (time averaging).

If i dont set my lcd to over 60hertz ie 72 or 75, it gives me eye strain

Some LCDs achieve fast response time through dubious means. Over-driving the pixel is the most common method of improving response time but it can be taken to the extreme leading gray-scales to "bounce." Other ways of achieving fast response time may involve adding a black, blanking frame to the image, pulsing the backlight or, scanning the backlight to match the rows being addressed. All of these methods for "faking" fast response time cause flicker, which gives people eye-strain just like CRTs.

I still stand by my statement there should be no distinguishable visual difference between the response time of the two panels. If either flicker at 60 Hz, it's called a "design feature" and you'll know your eyes are paying for it because it advertised a response time it couldn't meet without heavy tweaking and spec'smanship.

yes, but i always had the same problem with CRT's. if they are on 60hertz, then that hurts my eyes aswell, and ive got 20/20 vision so theres no problems there. I dont visably see the flicker, it just makes my eyes ache, if that makes any sense

I dont doubt that the 3ms response time of my monitor is 'faked', infact i read that on toms review of it, or words to that effect. But i still have nothing bad to say about my monitor, other than its insanely bright and i had to turn the brightness down to minimum, at this setting its fine
